of knuckles and lips

my tongue is numb
with sipped skin and tiny everythings. you

have just enough fingers to crave,
enough nothing to poke and fill and reassemble.

my taste buds are on the back of your hand
across my face, burning,
only the bitter ones.

but neither of us are any sweeter.

your throat is full of accidents:
broken vases
burnt toast
you shove your carpet into my wine. we

are the ruined kiss of water and infinity
repeating itself.

2:03 a.m.

my niece wakes up in the middle of the night,
every night,

wanting to be held.

it comforts me to know this is simply
human nature.

brief case

your fingers will wake up blue and frightened
by how tightly i am wrapped around them,

not tight enough, maybe.
maybe you will still like to decorate the center of your fist
with my hair,

it is so pretty on the floor, you will like

that my nipples crave the taste of cigarette cherries, that
my belly button likes to swallow you.
salty.

we are tongues against tree bark, innocent things sliding
in and out of private places.

i am sure my experiences have twin sisters, they are beautiful.

i know there are others who will and have kissed like me,
but they will not look better in my lipstick, they will
give you a journal, they will write your name in pretty cursive.

this journal belongs to

they will be sorry, they will be so sorry
but they will not be, they will be

safety pins jammed under fingernails.
jesus christ, i love to
bleed.
